How to Get Things Done
Here are some things that I do to help me in this busy, hectic world we call life. These are just what works for me, personally, it may or may not work for someone else.
1. Don't make a list.
I've seen a lot of tips regarding how to get work done, and one of them seems to be making lists? However, this almost never helps me. It makes me feel discouraged seeing all the things I haven't done yet, and frankly, even when I do check them off, I don't feel that accomplished.
But, if you do have a hard time remembering tasks, it's good to make a reminder. But, for me, I wouldn't make a checklist. I get too distracted trying to make it look pretty anyway.
2. Choose when you will subject yourself to misery.
I procrastinate. But, I also get things done. How does that happen? I control the procrastination. I may scroll through Instagram and get myself distracted from doing my work for a good 5-10 minutes, but once I get on my work, I get on it.
Again, this might not be the method for you, but, for me, I am efficient when I don't try to make myself study longer than I can focus for. It is okay to take breaks. It's okay to go on YouTube and entertain yourself for a while. Just be in control of when that starts and stops.
3. TIME. MANAGEMENT.
Time management is the most important of all of these. If you healthily spread out your work over the week, it. will. be. less. miserable.
Of course, numbers won't always work out to be even, but try to evenly spread out your work as much as you can.
Little mini-points:
1. Don't surround yourself with friends when trying to get stuff done. This has proven to be very distracting in my life experience. If you like food, that can be distracting too.
2. If you can stand to do a little more, just do it (Nike!). I have chosen to do the exact opposite of this to give myself some more TV time. I regret it very much. You will definitely thank yourself later for it.
3. Don't have something playing in the background. -She said as she was listening to music, writing her blog post. Yes, there are exceptions to this personal rule of mine: if you are doing something that does NOT INCLUDE A DUE DATE. This is especially true if you are listening to music that has words. Your brain will be trying to comprehend what the lyrics are saying, and it will distract you at one time or another.
4. If you're a student, TAKE NOTES. These have proven extremely helpful so far in my experience. No duh.
5. Don't work into ungodly hours of the night. This is part of the time management point. Just. Don't do it.
I sincerely hope this helps make some burdens a bit lighter to carry.
